Director Tan Siok Siok is presenting at our June @SMC_LA meeting a V.I.P. "beta-screening" of Twittamentary before the film hits the festival circuit. It's a unique and experimental documentary on how Twitter is changing our lives. The movie is unique in that its a film that also allows real time social media interaction. Viewers can interact with the cast and production team, in real-time, while watching the movie. And many, many of our social media friends are in the movie... so its a must see!
The documentary shows Siok Siok's whirlwind tour across the United States where she discovers and documents the effects of the social media on a wide range of walks of life. Featured in the film are some of our local social media members... from Mark Horvath (@invisiblepeople and @hardlynormal) to author @MarshaCollier. The stories range from how Twitter is helping the homeless to get off the street and start their lives over to a porn star who uses Twitter to stay in touch with her fans. This film is an interesting commentary on how social media is deeply personal, inherently curious and always social.
Here's a couple of teasers: http://youtu.be/SrmCex6-wbI Please support Siok Siok's entreprenuerial spirit by showing up and showing Siok Siok a real Hollywood welcome. There will be Q&A after the film with Siok Siok as well as with Mark Horvath (via @Skype). We want you to become part of the conversation, so please bring your questions!
As part of our monthly @SMC_LA meetings, we will be highlighting a charity each month. June's featured charity is Mark Horvath's @invisiblepeople. If you are motivated to help the homeless, provided as part of our sign-ups is the availability for micro-dontations!
Look forward to seeing you!
